Nikolina Smith
I’m a systemic therapist and couples therapist and have lived and studied in Canada, Greece and the USA, among other places. As a therapist, I combine my diverse experiences into an approach that includes systemic therapy and couples therapy with emotion-focused therapy. I practice in the heart of Berlin and look very much forward to getting to know you and working with you.
My therapeutic approach
Systemic Therapy
Systemic therapy looks at individual challenges and difficulties in the context of relationships and social systems. Instead of focusing exclusively on the individual, it examines the interactions between the members of a system. The goal is to bring change throughout the system, to promote individual well-being. Systemic therapy uses a resource-based approach and supports collaboration to enable positive change at various levels.
Emotion-focused Therapie (EFT)
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) looks at how emotions affect our relationships. It helps people to feel, understand and express deeper feelings in order to establish connections again. By focusing on emotions, needs & desires, EFT enables positive changes in relationships. It is an empathetic approach that aims to recognize and transform emotional patterns and dynamics to create a more secure and fulfilling connection.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is conscious and non-judgmental attention to the present moment. It's about experiencing the here & now with open curiosity and acceptance, without being distracted by thoughts about the past or future. With the help of mindfulness exercises, you learn to be more aware of what is, reduce stress and develop a deeper understanding of thoughts and emotions. It is a simple but powerful tool that is practiced through breathing techniques and body awareness.
ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy)
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to promote psychological flexibility. ACT emphasizes the acceptance of inevitable life difficulties and the willingness to consciously pursue values and goals. Through mindfulness, value identification and willingness to act, ACT helps us to to not fight our emotions and thoughts, but to accept them. The goal is to enable a rich and meaningful life by focusing on positive actions that are consistent with one’s personal values.

In this place I create a safe space for my therapeutic setting that allows you to open up to your feelings and thoughts. Here, in this empathetic environment, my goal is to provide a space in which you feel respected, understood and supported so that we can explore together the path of change and personal development.
