About

Nikolina Smith, Psychologist B.Sc., therapy & counselling in Berlin Mitte, couples therapy & individual therapy

My roots are in Berlin – a place shaped by great diversity. After completing my high school education, my journey led me to training as an educator. However, soon after, I felt the call to explore the world. I spent inspiring years in Greece (Athens & Crete) and Canada (Toronto), where I not only worked with children but also immersed myself in languages and cultures.

The return to Berlin marked a turning point in my life. Here, I deepened my language skills, earned a degree as a foreign language correspondent, and ventured abroad again, this time to the USA (Illinois & Iowa). It was there that I began my studies in Psychology and Anthropology. Upon returning from the USA, I completed my Psychology degree at Humboldt University Berlin and subsequently pursued a 3-year training in systemic therapy.

From a young age, various cultures fascinated me. My curiosity was directed towards different behaviors and the diverse reasons behind various approaches and practices. This interest and passion eventually led me to couple therapy, systemic therapy, and emotion-focused therapy – approaches that place the significance of relationships/connections and human emotions at the forefront.

A common thread ran through my life – marked by travels, living in different countries, learning languages in diverse cultures, and an intense exploration of human existence. As a mother of two wonderful children, connected to four different cultures, who have lived both in Berlin and the USA, I appreciate the importance of diversity and connection.

Now, I practice, among other places, at "Jetzt & Hier" in Berlin Mitte – a special place in many aspects. I look forward to getting to know you here and working together.
